GABRIEL'S GARDEN
Beautiful gardens and landscapes are so soothing and healing. I named mine "Gabriel's Garden" after my beautiful Son. It's especially important to put fragrant plants and flowers in your landscaping project. Nice scents make you relax and makes your special place an oasis. If you don't have a clue how to put plants and flowers together so that they're attractive, there are many options. Instead of paying big bucks for a landscaper to come out, use books and e-books.
One of my favorites is
"Instant Landscaping Ideas".
You can really get creative when reading the books and leaving the rest to your imagination. What are your favorite colors? What flowers are most fragrant? I like lilacs because they're pretty and one of my favorite colors and they smell so good. What also look great are the tall wild grasses in all-different textures. They're so cool and look kind of tropical and they're pretty inexpensive. You might even want to add a tree. I have two. My sister and brother in law bought them for "Gabriel's Garden" and we call one "The Josiah Tree" and the other "The Gabriel Tree". Josiah's is a crape myrtle and Gabriel's is a potato bush.
You can even add garden ornaments to your special oasis. Wind chimes are great. I have angel wind chimes. Also bird feeders are great. I have a bird feeder that matches my gazing ball. It's nice to sit and meditate with peace and quiet in you're garden and watch birds come to eat and watch butterflies land on your flowers. Anything to do with nature reminds me of Heaven and what God has created and of course that makes me feel closer to my boys.
This store is so full of neat things to get for your space. They have EVERYTHING you could ever need or want to make your garden your own.
directgardening.com has the best deal on all sorts of plants. Check them out here:
This is a birdbath that Gabriel gave me for Christmas a few years back. Of course I cherish it now more than ever. Birdbaths and water features are so tranquil. What's more peaceful than watching birds and listening to sounds of the water? Personalize your place. Put YOU in it. If you live in an apartment and only have a patio or balcony don't sweat it. A great selection of pottery is so unique. Get matching pots (or not) and go to your local nursery or Home Depot or Lowe's and walk through the aisles and you will find the plants your attracted too.
Here's my "rosemary" plant with a wooden penguin plant marker in it.
O.K. you might be asking "why the penguin?". Remember I told you to personalize your place and make it YOUR OWN oasis? Well that is what I did. I collect penguins because when my baby boy Josiah was in high school his group of friends called themselves "The Penguins" after the bud ice penguin. So I would call Josiah my little penguin and now I collect them because they remind me of him.
How cool is this? This is a gazing ball. They come in all shapes and sizes and beautiful colors. They're very inviting.
O.K. one more suggestion and then I'll leave you to your own imagination. Little solar lights (you can get them at all hardware stores and Target stores ect.) make your oasis magical at night and they don't cost a penny to run. Hey, were going green. You can put them in the ground or if you have a pottery garden you can stick them in a pot. Here's a great place to find fun stuff for your special place whether it's a
garden memorial or landscaped oasis.
Just make a cup of coffee and sit outside and look around and inspiration will come to you.
